Design Up’s president and founder, Jason Jasienowski, has lived in the District of Columbia for the last eighteen years and has worked in the field of design for over half a decade. Jason has particular expertise with kitchens, baths, and interiors.
Working on high-profile residential condominium projects in the District’s Logan Circle, 14th Street Corridor, Columbia Heights neighborhoods, private homes in DC, VA and MD, as well as projects for the Metropolitan Police Department of D.C., U.S. Capitol Police and National Park Trust has given Jason experience on a significant scale – experience he can bring to your home or project. Fees

Before a project starts a consultation or consult with Design Up, LLC must be set up. This consultation will generally take place at the project location. The consult is an opportunity for the client to meet the designer to discuss what they are looking for or scope of the project. It is also an opportunity for the designer to familiarize with the space and offer some thoughts or ideas that the client may have not previously entertained. Design Up, LLC does charge a consult fee of $75. However, we will credit this fee toward your project services with Design Up, LLC.
After the initial consult, Design Up, LLC divides projects into three phases:
Phase 1: Design/Spec, this is where Design Up, LLC would draft a physical plan and specify all material for the project. Price varies by project size and scope and is typically a flat fee for this phase of the project. However, an hourly fee may be arranged at our standard $75 per hour fee.
Phase 2: Procurement, this is the actual ordering of the materials specified in Phase 1.
Phase 3: Build/Installation, this is the management of the trades required to complete the project (carpenter, electrician, mason, etc.) and acquisition of any permits that may be necessary.
You may decide to handle the Procurement and/or Build/Installation phase yourself to reduce your costs. The Design/Spec phase will give you everything you require for the procurement of required materials. If Design Up, LLC manages the complete Procurement phase a retainer will be required to cover the estimated costs of the materials. Everything will still require the clients approval before it is ordered. If you wish to manage the Build/Installation phase, Design Up, LLC will be happy to provide contacts that will complete the installation. However, if you want Design Up, LLC to oversee your project, our project management fee is 20% of the overall project cost or portion of the project in which we oversee.
